About Rail Reservation Chart tool
This IRCTC Reservation Chart tool lets you check real-time coach-wise vacancy for any train after the chart is prepared. You can see exactly which berths are vacant, whether they are end-to-end or partial vacancies, and plan your current booking accordingly. The tool uses the same data source as the official IRCTC Charts/Vacancy portal.
How to Use
- Enter a train - Type a train number or name (e.g. 12951 or Mumbai Rajdhani) and select from the dropdown.
- Pick the date - The journey date defaults to today. Change it if needed.
- Select stations - Choose your boarding and destination stations from the lists that appear after train selection.
- Get the chart - Click "Check Reservation Chart" to view coach-wise vacancy after chart preparation.
- Click a coach - Tap any coach card to see a detailed berth-by-berth breakdown of vacant seats.
Chart vacancy data is only available after the first chart is prepared (typically 10 hours before departure or by 8 PM the previous night for morning trains).
Frequently Asked Questions About IRCTC Reservation Charts
A train reservation chart is the official final list of all passengers traveling on a particular train on a given date. It is prepared by Indian Railways before departure and contains each passenger's name, age, gender, coach number, berth number, and ticket status (Confirmed, RAC, or Waitlisted). The chart is used by the TTE onboard to verify passengers and assign berths.
An IRCTC chart vacancy refers to a berth or seat that remains unoccupied after the reservation chart is prepared. These vacancies appear when confirmed passengers cancel, no-show, or when quota seats are released. Chart vacancies can be viewed online through the IRCTC Charts/Vacancy portal and can be booked under current booking rules.
Reservation charts are prepared to finalize the passenger list, assign specific berths and coaches, determine the final status of waitlisted and RAC tickets, and ensure that the TTE has an accurate record of who is entitled to each seat. Charts also help railways manage vacant accommodation and facilitate last-minute bookings through current availability.
A reservation chart contains the train number and name, journey date, coach number, berth number, passenger name, age, gender, ticket status (CNF, RAC, WL), boarding station, destination station, and berth type (Lower, Middle, Upper, Side Lower, Side Upper). It also shows the total number of passengers booked in each coach.
Ticket availability shows the projected number of seats available for booking days or weeks in advance. A reservation chart is the actual finalized list of passengers and their assigned berths prepared hours before departure. Availability is an estimate; the chart is the ground truth. After chart preparation, availability updates to show current availability reflecting real vacant berths.
